Glasgow Science Centre & IMAX Cinema

The Glasgow Science Centre & IMAX Cinema is based in the Pacific Quay area of the city as part of the major regeneration works which have been taking place along the Clydeside. Opened in 2001 the Glasgow Science Centre & IMAX Cinema has been awarded a five star rating by the Glasgow Tourist Board, demonstrating the quality of its facilities. The Glasgow Science Centre & IMAX Cinema is split into three separate parts; the Glasgow Science Centre Mall, IMAX Cinema and the Glasgow Tower.

The Glasgow Science Centre Mall is based over three floors all packed with hundreds of interactive exhibits designed to make science fun and to challenge your perceptions. There is also a science theatre and planetarium to be explored. The Glasgow Science Centre Mall is the perfect day out for children, and also for big kids!

The IMAX Cinema at the Glasgow Science Centre was the first to be built in Scotland. With a screen the size bigger than a five a side football pitch, there is no other cinematic experience quite like IMAX. The IMAX Cinema at the Glasgow Science Centre shows a variety of films ranging from nature/documentaries, 3D films to Hollywood blockbusters.

The Glasgow Tower at the Glasgow Science Centre is the tallest freestanding building in Scotland. The Tower offers 360 degree panoramic views across the city and on a clear you see as far as 20 miles in all directions. This is a truly unique building which is build to rotate with minimal power and uses wind speed and direction to aid its movement. For those with a head for heights this is a fabulous opportunity to see Glasgow at its best.

If you fancy something a little more adventurous then every day there is a Loch Lomond sea plane which departs from the quay behind the Glasgow Science Centre. With trips running to Loch Lomond, Oban and Tobermory this is could be a wonderful gift for a loved one.
