When it comes to theatre breaks and cinema visits, Glasgow has it covered. With a host of theatres across the city, Glasgow is second only to London’s west end with regards to theatre, which means you are spoiled for choice when it comes to Glasgow theatre breaks. The Kings Theatre, the Pavilion Theatre and the Theatre Royal, to name just three, are all located in the heart of Glasgow city centre. So when it comes to variety of show, Glasgow can offer it all. For serious theatre goers, Glasgow’s theatres regularly host adaptations of hit west end shows. If your tastes are a little more light hearted, the Christmas pantomime season in Glasgow is not to be missed. If your preference is for all things film, Glasgow city centre is host to three major cinemas; Cineworld, the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) and the Grosvenor Cinema. Each of the three cinemas caters for different tastes.

Cineworld, on Renfrew Street, is the tallest cinema in the world and shows all the major blockbusters and new Hollywood releases. If you like your Hollywood films but prefer to watch them in a more luxurious setting then the Grosvenor Cinema on Ashton Lane is the place for you. With arm chair style seating and sofas available, it is like bringing the cinema screen into your living room. Also with a bar area, it is Glasgow’s only licensed cinema. If Hollywood isn’t your scene then why not check out the Glasgow Film Theatre on Rose Street. The GFT is the home of independent and foreign films in Glasgow. With special matinee showings and discounted tickets, the GFT has a charm and warmth about it that makes it a unique experience and a must for avid film fans.
