Entertainment & Nightlife in Glasgow
When it comes to entertainment and nightlife, there are few locations that can rival Glasgow. Visitors come to Glasgow from all over the world just to experience the city’s nightlife. Whether you are looking for restaurants, pubs or clubs you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to going out in Glasgow.
As a multicultural city, Glasgow benefits from being home to a huge array of cuisine, allowing you to experience a different countries cuisine each night. To list just a few, some of the cuisines include; American, Australian, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Indian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Kurdish, Mexican, Moroccan, Pakistani, Portuguese, Russian, Scottish, Spanish, Thai, Turkish and more.
For pubs and clubs, Glasgow cannot be beaten. With literally hundreds of bars available within the city centre there are venues for all tastes. If you are looking for lively chain pubs, quiet whiskey bars, beer halls, ale houses, wine bars, vodka bars, cocktail lounges or just a good old fashioned pub then you will find them all in Glasgow.
The city’s pubs and clubs are categorised by area. For those looking for a lively night out with chain bars and clubs then Sauchiehall Street comes alive every Friday and Saturday night. The Merchant City is home to some of the more exclusive bars and clubs and is the place to be seen in Glasgow. For a quieter night, and a little more sophistication, Bath Street, in the city centre, and Ashton Lane, in the west end, are for you with their more laid back approach and atmosphere.
Glasgow is also the premier music city in the UK. With a host of venues of all shapes and sizes, there is no city which can boast such a strong music scene. With venues such as King Tuts, the 13th Note and the Queen Margaret Union hosting bands throughout the week there is plenty of undiscovered talent in the city. If your taste is for more established acts, venues such as the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC), Barrowlands, ABC, Hampden Park and the Carling Academy consistently attract the biggest names in music and as any musician who has been lucky enough to play in Glasgow will tell you, there is no better crowd across the world.
